"Revenge Served Hot"
Itaewon Class is Korean revenge drama with a twist—the hero doesn't get dark. Park Sae-ro-yi (Park Seo-joon) is a young man whose life is destroyed by Jang Dae-hee (Yoo Jae-myung), the owner of a massive food conglomerate. Sae-ro-yi's father is killed. Sae-ro-yi is sent to prison for assault. When he gets out, he has one goal: destroy Jang Dae-hee's empire.
But Sae-ro-yi isn't a typical revenge protagonist. He doesn't become corrupt, doesn't sacrifice his principles, doesn't lose himself. He opens a small bar in Itaewon, Seoul's trendy nightlife district, and builds his business with integrity. He hires outcasts—a transgender chef, an ex-convict, a timid genius—and treats them with respect. His revenge is building something better than what destroyed him.
Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi) is a sociopath with no conscience who becomes Sae-ro-yi's most loyal ally. She's brilliant, ruthless, and completely devoted to his success. Her morality is questionable, but her loyalty is absolute. The show uses her to ask what you'd sacrifice for someone you believe in.
The food industry setting is smart—restaurant politics, franchise battles, social media influencers. The show understands modern Seoul, its class divides, its prejudices, its dreams. Sae-ro-yi's DanBam pub becomes a symbol of resistance against corporate homogenization.
Park Seo-joon is effortlessly charismatic—playing goodness without naivety, determination without bitterness. Kim Da-mi is electrifying as Yi-seo, dangerous and magnetic. The ensemble gives every character weight, even the villains.
