What It Feels Like to Watch

Glitch is Australian supernatural drama where the dead rise—not as zombies, but as themselves. In the small town of Yoorana, seven people climb out of their graves, confused and alive. They have no memory of dying. They don't know why they're back. They just want to go home—but some of their families have moved on, and some of their pasts contain secrets worth killing for.

James Hayes (Patrick Brammall) is the local cop called to the cemetery when bodies start walking. One of them is his wife Kate (Emily Barclay), dead for two years. Another is his first love, Sarah (Daniela Farinacci). The man he works for is married to one of the risen. Nothing in James's life is unaffected.

The show is interested in resurrection as a human problem, not a supernatural puzzle. The risen are still who they were—same personalities, same relationships, same flaws. But the world they left has continued without them. Kate's husband has a new life. Sarah's children are grown. One of the risen was a murderer. Another was murdered.

The mystery of why they returned unfolds slowly—something about the land, something ancient, something that wants to take them back. But the real story is about grief and moving on (or not), about what we owe the dead and what we owe the living.

Australian small towns are perfect settings for this kind of story—isolated, gossip-filled, everyone connected to everyone, secrets impossible to keep. The performances are grounded, the emotions real, the supernatural elements understated. It's The Returned by way of Neighbours—accessible but genuinely moving.
